Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training Do you know how to assist your neighbors and co-workers in any emergency situation? Will you be able to help if Emergency Services are delayed? If your answer was not a resounding yes, then consider taking the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training course offered by Montgomery County. Montgomery County’s enhanced Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training course will prepare you for common emergencies situations and the hazards and disasters that may impact the DC Metro area. The course is five weeks long; approximately 32 hours of instruction and hands on exercises. Register for the Next Class The Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) Course #2018-05 will start on Wednesday, November 7th, 2018, and wrap up, with a final practical exercise, on Saturday, December 15th, 2018. Please note classes will not be held on Wednesday, November 21st and Saturday, November 24th due to the Thanksgiving Holiday. Classes will resume on Wednesday, November 28th. The THIRD Wednesday class on November 28th is CPR/AED training. Class will start at 6:30 PM and end at 9:30 PM. Classes held twice a week, Wednesday Evenings from 7–9 PM and Saturday mornings from 9 AM–1 PM, at the Montgomery County Public Safety Headquarters (100 Edison Park Drive, Suite #100, Gaithersburg, MD 20878. Would you know what to do if someone you knew or loved had a cardiac emergency, suddenly passed out or thought they were having a heart attack? Whether your answer is yes or no, why pass up on a chance to refresh your skills for free? Montgomery CERT believes that everyone should be trained and prepared to use life-saving skills like the use of CPR (and the AED machine.) Montgomery CERT is offering a FREE adult CPR/AED class to Montgomery County, MD residents. Our CPR/AED classes are taught by American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) professional instructors. Students will receive ASHI certification in Adult CPR/AED.  To participate in this training, you must be 12 years old or older and a resident of Montgomery County (exceptions may be made for non-residents who work in Montgomery County.) Program Manager\’s Moment- August 2018 Wow..it\’s August already and I\’m not quite sure where the summer has gone! Here at Montgomery County CERT we are as busy as ever: CERT Basic 18-04 is well under way, we continue to offer Friends and family CPR classes, we just had our wonderful annual picnic,  and our planning and training continue unabated. What this says to me, and what I\’m so proud of, is the year-round passion displayed by our amazing CERT volunteers. From picnic menu planning to preparing and teaching materials our Montgomery County residents, CERTS continue to put heart and soul into their work. Please take a moment to thank the members who make the activities we enjoy possible. Fall 2018 will be jam packed with CERT events: Preparedness Month activities, GoTeam scheduled deployments,  training classes, and much more. CERTCON 2018: Learning For Life- Thank You! CERTCON 2018 is now in the record books. Thanks to all of the over 350 participants, thank you to the amazing Montgomery County CERT volunteers who put is so many hours of planning and hard work. Thanks to our wonderful partner agencies who kicked in the money to house and feed us. Thank you sincerely to each of our NCR CERT organization partners for all the help planning and executing the conference. And a huge thanks and job well done to the many speakers and presenters who delivered so many excellent training sessions. Well June is here and Montgomery CERT is busier than ever! We just completed CERT Basic 18-03 ( Congrats!) David Steele and Kristen Wear just did a wonderful two day moulage class over the Memorial Day weekend, our Go Team continues its  preparations,  Friends and family CPR classes continue ( Thanks Cynthia and CREW) and CERT CON 2018 is almost here!  If you haven\’t visited the CERT CON 2018 website, follow the link and do it today.
