CERT Con 2017: Sign Up Today! National Capital Region Community Emergency Response Team Conference (CERT Con) is on! We are excited to bring a host of basic refresher and advanced Emergency Management seminars and speakers to invigorate, educate and innovate your preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery to any natural or man-made disasters. When a major disaster strikes, emergency professionals are often unable to reach a scene for several hours or even days. Are you prepared for your next disaster? The conference offered advanced education and hands-on disaster preparedness training to CERT teams in the Mid-Atlantic region and to provided an understanding of CERT capabilities to emergency management personnel. Classes, lectures and workshops were held to broaden horizons and explore the possibilities for service by CERTs at home, at work, and in our communities. The first year of the conference was hosted in Montgomery County, featured keynote remarks from FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate.  Since 2011, CERTCon has been hosted by Georgetown University; Fairfax County, Virginia and Prince George’s County, and Maryland, Montgomery County in 2015. Although the format has changed each year, the original goal for the conference remains to educate and provide networking opportunities and enhance cooperation among the region’s CERT teams.
